The nights have already become crisp and there’s an unpredictable chill in the air throughout some of these mid-October days, laced with the faint aroma of damp trees and spice. The leaves are just beginning to turn from their subdued green to brilliant reds and golds, reminding us of the fireplace flames that we’ll soon be huddled up by. All of these scenes and smells are amplified by what is undoubtedly the tastiest seasonal flavors– cinnamon and cider, ginger and vanilla, pumpkins and apples and mountains of brown sugar. I’ve found it impossible to resist diving into the season headfirst, so my kitchen has been filled with all of these ingredients for everything from mixing up cakes to mixing up drinks.
And what has also been a feature in the latter this season is a bottle of Bulleit bourbon that has found its way into every cocktail I’ve concocted. The flavors of a tasty bourbon just amplify those beloved fall favorites I mentioned before. One of the best mixes I’ve put together to demonstrate this is Fireside Bourbon Cider.
Bourbon and cider are a match made in autumnal heaven, and with a little boost from ginger, lemon, and an optional dash of bitters, you’ve got a drink that’s perfect to accompany fireside reading, unwinding after a day at the orchard, Halloween parties, or harvest feasts. Skewered crystallized ginger makes for an attractive presentation that you’ll be happy to show off to all of your guests!
Serve up these cocktails featuring bourbon, apple cider, and other fall flavors to have everyone swooning for the season!
