It's Monday! Usually that's not an exciting revelation for me, but today happens to be a little different-- I just came back to the office from a nice, relaxing weekend and we're closed for the holiday tomorrow and Wednesday. It's what dreams are made of, really. So, for the first time I can remember, I think this Monday calls for a special sort of celebration.
It calls for champagne. Champagne punch, to be exact.
Okay, maybe we're not on the same page here with the Monday celebration. If you absolutely must wait, New Year's Eve is tomorrow, so I suppose you could hold out to make it until then. However, I gotta tell ya, if I wasn't in the office right now I'd be having this punch for breakfast today.
It has a lot of grapefruit juice in it, so it can count as a breakfast beverage if you want it to. That is a scientific fact.
Whether you're hosting your own party or attending someone else's this New Year's Eve, whip up a batch of this punch. It's easy-- there's no muddling, whipping, freezing, shaking, or any of that time-consuming, mess-making stuff involved. Simply pour in the ingredients, garnish with some fresh grapefruit and mint, and serve. Bam, you're the King or Queen of New Years Eve.
Now, I don't like grapefruit. I just don't. I've tried it at least 10 times and every time I'm not into it at all. That being said, I don't know what it is about this punch, but I actually liked it enough to drink my entire cup.
Then, believe it or not, I poured myself another. I even tried to pour myself a third, but my Omi, who is staying with me for the holidays, had drank the rest. She needed to "warm up", she said, and a bit of alcohol seems to do the job for her. She also greatly approved of this recipe, in case you were wondering.

I love grapefruit, and this sounds delicious! Just remember, especially if this is a brunch with a number of older relatives, that grapefruit interacts with many medications. This includes heart medicines, cholesterol-lowering meds, and more than 80 others at last count. http://www.fda.gov/forconsumers/consumerupdates/ucm292276.htm

This looks absolutely delicious. Is there a substitute for the cream soda? They don't sell it where we live. 🙁

Is ginger ale available? I'd recommend using that instead! If you switch it out, please let me know what you think =)

I was intending to try this with fresh grapefruit juice. I'm not familiar with Simply Grapefruit an wanted to know how many ounces in a bottle of this. Thanks.
